Twelfth Night,
or What You Will
Written by William Shakespeare Directed by Sherri Raeford

Two twins, Viola and Sebastian survive a shipwreck and are washed in separate areas onshore in Illyria; they both think the other has drowned. Viola decides to disguise herself as a man (Cesario) to work in the court of Duke Orsino, who is in pursuit of the elusive Lady Olivia. The mourning Sebastian and his admirer, Antonia, wander around the island aimlessly, trying to figure out their next move. Viola is disguised as Cesario and now working in the court of Orsino, and immediately falls in love with him. Orsino asks “Cesario” to pursue the Lady Olivia in his stead and Olivia falls for Cesario (Viola) thinking that she is a young man. In the meantime, Olivia’s drunken Uncle Toby Belch and his band of partiers are into mischief around the island, including playing tricks on Olivia’s uptight serving man, Malvolio. Hilarity ensues until all is well for everyone . . . except the “notoriously abused” Malvolio, who promises revenge. |
