Written by William Shakespeare
Directed by Sherri Raeford
Join us for an early 1970's themed frolic of William Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing. Pull out your tie dye, jeans, bell bottoms and miniskirts and join the vibe.
Two brothers and their friends, newly returned from the war, are ready for parties, romantic entanglements, and intrigue in the world of Duchess Leonata's estate with her joyfully self-professed liberated niece and lovely daughter. Mix in a bit of music of the time period for a true adventure as Shakespeare meets the counterculture of this retro generation.
Lights Up! Interview
Some of our performance venues are indoors while others are outdoors and involve following the actors from scene to scene. For our outdoor venues, please wear comfortable shoes and bring a lawn chair or towel for sitting as you travel. Read the event page for each venue below for more details.
Much Ado About Nothing is a classic comedy, and as classic works often do, it addresses beliefs and ideology from the time period in which it was written. Shakespeare's plays frequently tackle themes of jealousy and sexism. Viewer discretion is advised.

"We stand together as we represent countless women who came before us; some who were recognized, and some who were not. We stand here together to represent the women who lead us today and the daughters of our future. We stand together to tell you a story . . . a story that is still evolving and a story that we all share. The story of Women’s Suffrage in the nation and in North Carolina . . ."
This play contains themes of racism, sexism, and abuse.
